1. Open the application.
2. Follow the onscreen instructions (If needed).

To check version of Java installed:
1. Open 'Utilities' folder.
2. Open Java Preferences > General Tab.

To activate Java version:
1. Open 'Utilities' folder.
2. Open Java Preferences  > General Tab.
3. To activate it, Drag the item to the top of the list.
Note: Updating to Java for OS X 2012-006 removes the Java Preferences application, which is no longer required to configure applet settings. For more details, see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5493.


The instructions below tested on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Intel):

2. Type java -version
3. Press Enter.

To activate Java version:
1. Open 'Utilities' folder.
2. Open Java Preferences > General Tab.
3. To activate it, Drag the item to the top of the list.
